Jamie McDell

Jamie McDell (born 3 November 1992) is a singer and songwriter from Auckland, New Zealand. She was discovered at the age of 16 by EMI Music New Zealand after sending them a demo tape of her acoustic music. Prior to being signed by a major record label, McDell used various social media outlets to gain exposure, posting YouTube videos – including original songs and cover songs, Twitter and Facebook to get her music out to the masses.
She released her debut single, "You'll Never Take That Away", on 20 February 2012, which was certified Gold in New Zealand.〔 Following the success of her debut single, McDell released her EP, ''All That I Wanted - Acoustic EP'', on 4 May 2012.〔(【引用サイトリンク】url=https://itunes.apple.com/nz/album/all-that-i-wanted-acoustic/id521378135 )〕 Her second single, "Rewind" was released on 13 June 2012.〔(【引用サイトリンク】url=https://itunes.apple.com/nz/album/rewind-single/id540414818 )〕 McDell's debut studio album ''Six Strings and a Sailboat'' was released 16 November 2012.
Her newest single, "Dumb", was released on 8 August 2014. It peaked at number 3 on the Official New Zealand Music Chart. Her second studio album, titled "Ask Me Anything" is due to be released sometime in March 2015.
==Early life and career==
Jamie McDell was born in Auckland and brought up in a musical family, with a passion for singing and music. She attended Diocesan School for Girls (Auckland) before leaving to attend King's College, Auckland for her final two years.〔 She also loves to surf and skate, and was introduced to sailing and diving through family and friends.〔 She began writing songs as a child with biographical lyrics relating to life events. It has been quoted that McDell "just might be New Zealand's answer to Taylor Swift."
