Jamie McDell (born 3 November 1992) is a singer and songwriter from Auckland, New Zealand. She was discovered at the age of 16 by EMI Music New Zealand after sending them a demo tape of her acoustic music. Prior to being signed by a major record label, McDell used various social media outlets to gain exposure, posting YouTube videos – including original songs and cover songs, Twitter and Facebook to get her music out to the masses. Her second studio album, titled "Ask Me Anything" is due to be released sometime in March 2015. ==Early life and career== Jamie McDell was born in Auckland and brought up in a musical family, with a passion for singing and music. She attended Diocesan School for Girls (Auckland) before leaving to attend King's College, Auckland for her final two years.〔 She also loves to surf and skate, and was introduced to sailing and diving through family and friends.〔 She began writing songs as a child with biographical lyrics relating to life events.
